The Future of Making Buildings

Thomas Grant 4 years ago 0 7

Humans have used drawings to design and construct buildings since before the Pyramids, often with unexpected results. This talk examines how digital technology might finally change that two thousand year-old tradition and radically improve the way builds are created, built and used. Phil is a Vice President for Strategic Industry Relations at Autodesk where he is responsible for the company’s future vision and strategy for technology as well as cultivating the firm’s relationships with strategic industry leaders and associations. Formerly a principal with Pelli Clarke Pelli Architects, he teaches Professional Practice at Yale where he received both his B.A. and his M.Arch. He is co-editor of Building (In) The Future: Recasting Labor in Architecture and BIM In Academia, a Senior Fellow of the Design Futures Council and former Chair of the AIA National Contract Documents Committee. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at TED X
